SURVIVAL
A GAME FOR ECOLOGICAL LEARNING

The Story
The sun dips below the heavy forest canopy, casting long shadows across the trail. You and your fellow campers have wandered too far from camp, and the only way back to safety is to navigate the living system of the forest itself.
In Survival, knowledge is your greatest tool. Every step forward is earned through reasoning, and discovery. The forest rewards careful listening and masking connections, However, the path is also dotted with dangers (spiders), boosts (butterflies) and path re-routes (centipede).

Objective
The primary goal is to be the first player to navigate the forest trail and return safely to camp. While the game is enriched by dynamic group discovery, it is also designed for solo play. In single-player mode, you can compete against your personal best by completing the trail using as few cards as possible. At the end of the session, tally your cards (including correct, incorrect, and partially correct answers) to establish a score to beat in future games.

Playing the Game
All players begin on the same trail, but the path soon divides into two routes, which continue to divide into even more routes. Some paths are faster short-cuts to camp safety, but are riddled with more obstacles than the winding clear Choose wisely because speed is not always survival.
Players move by answering questions from one of three challenge decks. Before each turn, choose the difficulty level you want to attempt:
- Easy Deck → Move 1 step
- Medium Deck → Move 3 steps
- Challenging Deck → Move 5 steps
The harder the question, the greater the reward. A partially correct answer still has value in the forest. If a player gives a Partially Correct Answer, they earn an Antidote Token. This Tokens allow players to: Ignore the effect of a Poisonous Spider and stay on their current space instead of retreating
If a player remains on the same Spider space during another turn, they are still immune to that spider’s effect for that round of play.

Special Movements
There are special places which will be marked by a butterfly, a centipede or a spider:
- Landing on a Butterfly space grants an immediate bonus of 2 extra steps forward.
- Landing on a Poisonous Spider space forces you to move 2 steps backward unless protected by an Antidote Token.
- Landing on a space containing a Centipede immediately reroute to the connected circle on the opposite side
- Continue moving in the direction of the arrows. All paths are one-way paths
